Bangladeshi Actor Shipan Mitra Feels Misled by Producers

-

Bangladeshi actor Shipan Mitra has claimed that he was misled by the producers of a project he agreed to work on, as he discovered that footage he had shot for YouTube was released in theaters without his approval. Three years back, Mitra had filmed a series intended for online streaming. However, just before the national election, he was informed that the content would be shown in cinemas on Valentine’s Day, leaving him feeling deceived.

Mitra revealed that during the filming, he was actively involved in creating content for YouTube in addition to his acting career. He was approached with an offer for a comedy-romance project for the online platform, which he accepted and completed shooting in a brief five-day period. Feeling neglected and disrespected as an artist, Mitra expressed his disappointment at the sudden transformation of the content from a drama series to a full-fledged film without his knowledge, stating that he does not consider it his own film.

The project, now named “Barishailla Pori”, premiered in ten theaters on February 13. Mitra chose to boycott any promotional activities associated with the film in protest. In response to the actor’s claims, director Salman Jasim defended the production, arguing that it was indeed a film as it included elements such as multiple songs and action sequences which are typical of cinema, rather than a drama series. Jasim dismissed accusations of deception, emphasizing the cinematic nature of the project.
