A proposed single-window system in Bangladesh’s budget for fiscal year 2026-27 may allow businesses to obtain licenses in just seven days. The initiative aims to streamline all approval and licensing processes through a mandatory online platform, as announced today by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
The objective is to reduce bureaucratic delays, lower costs, and enhance Bangladesh’s appeal as a destination for private and foreign investments. The proposal entails completing the entire process, from application submission to license issuance, within a week.
Key elements include integrating approvals for fire safety, environmental clearance, land use, and building design into a unified system. This consolidation will eliminate the need for investors to navigate multiple agencies and undergo repeated inspections.
Additionally, the government plans to expedite company registration within 48 hours, issue work permits for foreign experts in seven days, and provide investor visas within 10 days. In cases where relevant agencies fail to respond within a set timeframe, applications may be considered approved automatically.
