Meta has rolled out a fresh feature on Instagram that allows users to pause Reels videos with a single tap, marking a revision to a long-standing user interface restriction on the platform. This update arrives half a decade after the introduction of the short-form video feature. Previously, pausing a Reel necessitated pressing and holding a finger on the screen, with playback resuming upon releasing the touch. The new “tap-to-pause” feature permits users to halt playback with a simple tap, granting more control over content viewing. Upon pausing, users are presented with additional choices, such as muting audio. Instagram’s chief, Adam Mosseri, verified the change and announced the update on his official account.
