Huarun Tex Co Ltd, a Chinese firm, is set to invest $30 million in constructing a textile manufacturing facility within the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) Economic Zone located in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The planned factory will occupy a 36,000-square-meter area, as stated in an official press release. Once operational, the plant aims to produce 24,000 tons of yarn and 20 million meters of grey woven fabric annually, generating employment opportunities for 580 Bangladeshi citizens.
The agreement for the land lease was formalized between Bepza and Huarun Tex on July 16 at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka. Signing the deal were Md Tanvir Hossain, representing Bepza as the member in charge of investment promotion, and Bin Wang, the managing director of Huarun Tex. Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, the executive chairman of Bepza, expressed gratitude to Huarun Tex for selecting Bangladesh, specifically the Bepza Economic Zone, for their investment. He emphasized Bepza’s dedication to furnishing a secure, contemporary, and business-friendly setting for investors, assuring the company of complete assistance to facilitate smooth operations.
During the signing ceremony, senior Bepza officials including Abdullah Al Mamun, the engineering member, and ANM Foyzul Haque, the finance member, were present, alongside representatives from Huarun Tex.
