On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the West Bengal government in India revealed the recipients of the Banga Samman awards. This year, a group of prominent individuals from the music and entertainment industries were honored with the Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan titles by the state government.
Celebrating International Mother Language Day on February 21, a notable selection of personalities from the music and entertainment sectors were granted the Banga Bibhushan and Banga Bhushan accolades. Noteworthy among them is actor Parambrata Chatterjee, who was bestowed with the Banga Bhushan award this year.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to music, the Banga Bibhushan was presented to Nachiketa Chakraborty, Shibaji Chattopadhyay, Sreeradha Bandyopadhyay, Iman Chakraborty, Lopamudra Mitra, and the singer-turned-politician Babul Supriyo. The honorees also include artist Ganesh Haloi and poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay.
In addition to Parambrata, the Banga Bhushan was conferred upon singers Manomay Bhattacharya, Raghab Chatterjee, and Rupankar Bagchi. Kartik Das Baul and Aditi Munshi were also recognized with the same prestigious title.
