“Unapproved Drones Disrupt 50+ Flights at Danang Airport”

-

Unapproved drones caused disruptions to over 50 flights at Danang International Airport in Vietnam during the bustling Lunar New Year period, as reported by state media. Incidents occurred on two separate occasions last week, resulting in flight delays and diversions due to drones flying dangerously close to aircraft, as detailed by the Thanh Nien newspaper. The individuals responsible for operating the drones and the proximity to the aircraft remain undisclosed.

Airport authorities, as noted by Thanh Nien, reported a total of 54 flight delays due to the drone interference. Despite attempts to gather further information, Danang airport officials did not provide an immediate response to inquiries by AFP.

Vietnam strictly prohibits the private use of unmanned aerial vehicles and high-intensity lighting in airport vicinity. Danang serves as a crucial aviation hub for Vietnam’s central regions, managing over 300 flights daily during peak holiday periods, according to Thanh Nien.
