“Trump Defies Supreme Court on Tariffs, Plans New Trade Deal Tactics”

-

US President Donald Trump indicated on Friday that despite the Supreme Court ruling his tariffs on India as illegal, most trade deals negotiated under tariff threats were still effective. Trump affirmed that the trade deal with India would proceed, mentioning plans to implement alternative tariffs to replace those deemed unlawful by the court. He mentioned that the legal dispute over the $133 billion generated from the tariffs might extend for several years, hinting at a potential lengthy court battle.

Trump emphasized that the issue of refunding the tariff revenue was not addressed in the Supreme Court’s decision, predicting ongoing legal challenges for the next five years. Additionally, following the Supreme Court’s rejection of his key economic strategy, Trump declared his intention to impose a 10 percent tariff on all imports into the United States.
