Snap Inc. announced its plan to downsize by laying off approximately 1,000 employees and shutting down over 300 vacant positions as part of a cost-saving initiative. Chief executive Evan Spiegel detailed in an internal email, included in the official statement, that these actions aim to reduce Snap’s annual cost base by over $500 million by the latter half of 2026. Spiegel expressed confidence that these strategic moves would pave the way for improved net-income profitability in the future.
Furthermore, Spiegel highlighted the company’s enhanced integration of artificial intelligence into its operations. He noted that this technology had already proven beneficial in streamlining tasks, boosting efficiency, and providing better assistance to users, partners, and advertisers.
