“Father Allegedly Kills Infant Daughter in Chattogram Dispute”

A man is accused of fatally injuring his two-month-old daughter during a domestic dispute in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram today. The tragic event occurred at approximately 8:00 am in ward 9 of the Charia area under Mirzapur Union, as reported by the police.

The deceased infant, identified as Meherar Akter, was the daughter of Osman Gani, a resident of the locality. According to Md Zahidur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Hathazari Model Police Station, witnesses stated that the baby was with her mother, Sumaiya Akter, when Osman requested tea. An argument erupted between the couple due to a delay in serving the tea.

Subsequently, Osman allegedly seized the child from Sumaiya’s embrace and forcefully threw her to the ground, resulting in her immediate death. The body has been transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for further examination, as mentioned by OC Zahidur.

Following the incident, Osman fled and is currently evading the authorities. Law enforcement is actively pursuing him, informed the OC. A murder case related to the occurrence is being processed, as confirmed by the police official.
