Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek of its upcoming rendition of “Pride and Prejudice”, showcasing Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy. Scheduled to debut this fall, the six-part series has been reimagined for TV by writer Dolly Alderton. Netflix aims to pay homage to Jane Austen’s original masterpiece while captivating a new audience with its timeless love story.
The teaser offers stunning visuals, with Corrin’s Elizabeth poised on a rooftop during sunset, and Lowden’s Mr. Darcy making a grand entrance on horseback. Euros Lyn, renowned for his work on “Heartstopper”, directs the series. The star-studded cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, and Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham. Additionally, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Hopey Parish, and Hollie Avery play pivotal roles.
Executive producers Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter from Lookout Point, alongside Alderton, Lyn, and Corrin in production roles, ensure the series’ success. Lisa Osborne serves as the producer. Alderton expressed gratitude for the chance to reimagine Austen’s renowned work, labeling “Pride and Prejudice” as the cornerstone of romantic comedy and eagerly anticipating the portrayal of these iconic characters in a new light.
