Mumbai Indians’ Bowlers Under Scrutiny in IPL

-

Mumbai Indians’ bowlers are facing scrutiny following their inability to defend the team’s highest total this season in the Indian Premier League. However, captain Hardik Pandya emphasized that the responsibility for the performance falls on the entire team rather than singling out the bowlers.

The five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, are having a challenging season and currently hold the ninth position in the 10-team league with only two victories out of eight matches.

Their renowned bowling lineup, led by Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, has been struggling in the IPL as the conditions heavily favor batsmen.

Despite setting a formidable total of 243-5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians saw their opponents comfortably chase down the target, securing a six-wicket victory with eight balls to spare.

Jasprit Bumrah, considered one of the world’s top fast bowlers, had another disappointing outing as he remained without a wicket and conceded 54 runs in his four overs, keeping his tally at just two wickets in eight matches.

During the post-match presentation, Pandya shared that the team collectively shares the responsibility for the loss rather than solely blaming the bowlers.

“I won’t blame my bowlers. I believe that as a team, we have not lived up to the standards that Mumbai Indians are known for,” he stated.

Mumbai Indians, who have utilized 22 players this season, the most among all teams, are hopeful that a change in luck could reverse their fortunes, according to Pandya.

“This season has been challenging. When opportunities arise, seizing them can shift luck and momentum in our favor,” Pandya remarked. “If not, it can be detrimental, but our players have put in a commendable effort.”
