MP Tulip Siddiq and Ex-Official Issued Arrest Warrants

-

A British Member of Parliament, Tulip Siddiq, who is the niece of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain, a former assistant legal adviser at Rajuk, have been issued arrest warrants by a special court. The warrants were issued in connection with a case involving the “illegal acquisition” of a flat in the Gulshan-2 area of Dhaka, where they allegedly provided undue benefits to a developer.

Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court in Dhaka issued the arrest warrants after accepting the charge sheet filed by the ACC. The court has scheduled March 8 as the deadline for submitting a report on the execution of the arrest warrants. The case was filed by the ACC on April 15 last year.

The case documents reveal that the accused individuals are accused of misusing their authority to unlawfully acquire a flat from Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan-2 without making any payment. Subsequently, they reportedly had the property registered in their names.
