In recent times, audiences have come to anticipate an annual Eid release from filmmaker Raihan Rafi, generating significant interest in his upcoming projects.
This Eid ul-Fitr, Rafi is preparing to unveil his latest film titled “Pressure Cooker”, a production collaboration between Impress Telefilm and Kanon Films. Unlike traditional narratives centered on male protagonists, this film focuses on four compelling female characters portrayed by Shobnom Bubly, Nazifa Tushi, Snigdha Chowdhury, and Mariay Shanto.
A one-and-a-half-minute sneak peek of the film was shared yesterday, described by Rafi not as a mere teaser but as the film’s “First Whistle”. The accompanying caption on social media hinted at a brewing tension within the storyline, suggesting an imminent explosion once the lid is lifted and the pressure released.
The preview introduces the four female leads alongside an ensemble cast featuring renowned actors such as Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Misha Sawdagor, Azizul Hakim, and Saberi Alam. Adding to the teaser’s intrigue is the voice of Chanchal Chowdhury reciting lines from the famous poem “Moumachhi, Moumachhi” in the background.
The film had already sparked conversations upon the release of its poster last month, prominently showcasing the female protagonists and signaling a narrative that revolves around their experiences.
According to Rafi, “Pressure Cooker” delves into the pressures of urban life in Dhaka, shedding light on the social conflicts and personal challenges faced by these four women. The director emphasizes that Dhaka is akin to a pressure cooker for women, where if their voices are stifled, the whistle eventually blows.
Since the unveiling of the “First Whistle”, anticipation for the film has been steadily mounting among viewers in anticipation of its Eid premiere.
