The FBI terminated around six agents connected to an investigation in 2022 regarding President Donald Trump’s possession of documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate, as reported by US media sources. This action has sparked outrage from the organization representing FBI personnel.
During Trump’s post-presidency period in 2022, the FBI conducted a search at his Florida residence as part of a probe that was later dropped concerning the mishandling of classified documents following his initial term in the White House.
Reports from various US media outlets indicated that FBI Director Kash Patel directed the dismissal of at least six agents due to their involvement in the aforementioned case. The FBI has chosen not to provide any comments on this matter.
Allegedly, Trump had maintained classified documents, which contained records from the Pentagon and CIA, in an insecure manner at Mar-a-Lago and obstructed attempts to recover them. These materials reportedly consisted of confidential nuclear and defense documents, as per prosecutors.
In July 2024, US District Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump, dismissed the case involving the documents against him, citing the improper appointment of former special counsel Jack Smith as the reason for the ruling.
