“Bangladesh Invites Lithuanian Tech Firms for Investment”

-

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir has encouraged Lithuanian technology firms to consider investing in Bangladesh’s rapidly growing ICT, fintech, and other technology-based industries. The Minister extended this invitation during a meeting with Lithuanian non-resident Ambassador to Bangladesh, Diana Mickeviciene, at the Ministry of Commerce in the Secretariat. Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan also attended the meeting.

Muktadir emphasized the potential for expanding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Lithuania, despite the current low trade volume. He specifically highlighted Bangladesh’s flourishing ICT sector, skilled young workforce, and abundant pool of freelancers, noting that Lithuanian tech companies could leverage these resources to expand their presence in Bangladesh and tap into the broader South Asian market.

Describing Bangladesh as a promising investment destination, the Minister mentioned that the country ensures necessary facilities for investment repatriation and profit generation. He underlined Bangladesh’s stable and investor-friendly environment, urging Lithuanian enterprises to capitalize on the emerging opportunities.

The discussions between the two parties focused on enhancing bilateral trade, fostering investment cooperation, and forming partnerships in technology-driven fields such as ICT, cybersecurity, and fintech. Ambassador Diana Mickeviciene highlighted Lithuania’s global leadership in laser technology, GovTech, and fintech services. She expressed Lithuania’s eagerness to share expertise and technological knowledge with Bangladesh to bolster its digital transformation, technological progress, and cybersecurity capabilities.

The Lithuanian ambassador stressed the significance of forging robust partnerships between the public and private sectors of both countries, emphasizing that such collaborations could unlock new prospects in technology, innovation, and investment. The meeting underscored the importance of swift actions to boost bilateral trade, enhance business-to-business interactions, and embark on joint initiatives in technology-focused sectors.
