Nahid Rana has been recognized as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2026 following an impressive ODI series against New Zealand. The Bangladesh fast bowler showcased his skills by taking eight wickets across three matches against the Black Caps, building on his successful performance in March where he also secured eight wickets in a series against Pakistan.
This marks Rana’s first monthly ICC award, making him the first Bangladeshi player to receive the men’s accolade since Mehidy Hasan Miraz achieved the feat in April of the previous year. Expressing his gratitude, Rana stated, “It’s a tremendous honor to be named the ICC Player of the Month after a strong showing against a top-tier team like New Zealand. Performing well on home turf made the series even more special, and it is an experience I will always treasure.”
Acknowledging the support from his teammates, Rana emphasized his commitment to contributing to future victories and creating memorable moments for his team. While the first ODI against New Zealand saw Rana claim only one wicket, he staged a remarkable comeback in the second ODI, securing his second five-wicket haul of his career.
Rana’s impactful performance disrupted the New Zealand batting lineup, with early wickets in the Powerplay setting the tone for his exceptional figures of 5/32 as the Black Caps were dismissed for 198. In the decisive third ODI, Rana maintained his dominance by adding two more wickets to his tally, aiding Bangladesh in clinching a 2-1 series win. His outstanding contributions also earned him the Player of the Series award.
With an average of 16.75 and an economy rate of 4.46, Rana’s stellar performance earned him the prestigious ICC Player of the Month title for April 2026.
