Windrose, an upcoming co-operative pirate survival game, is set to debut in early access on April 14, following a surge in interest during recent public testing sessions. The early access version of the game will be accessible on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove, priced at USD 29.99. Developers on Steam have indicated a future price increase for the full release.
Crafted by Windrose Crew, this title merges open-world exploration with survival elements and online co-op features. Players can navigate the seas solo or with companions, overseeing a shared vessel and participating in ship-to-ship skirmishes and boarding battles.
Within the early access phase, the game showcases a vibrant world comprising over 90 meticulously designed locations, such as dungeons, temples, and sunken ships. Combat options encompass both ranged and melee weaponry, pitting players against enemy crews, mythical beasts, and formidable bosses.
In addition to combat, Windrose offers intricate systems for farming, fishing, crafting, trading, and constructing bases. Players have the opportunity to enlist non-player characters (NPCs) into their crew, while a reputation mechanism monitors in-game choices and advancements.
The game has accumulated more than 1.5 million wishlists on Steam. Windrose Crew has outlined a projected early access duration of approximately 1.5 to 2.5 years, during which they intend to enrich the game world with additional environments, vessels, adversaries, and equipment, along with potential new gameplay mechanisms. The full gameplay experience is estimated to require 50 to 70 hours to complete.
