UN Report: Genocide in El-Fasher by Paramilitary

-

The UN’s independent investigative team examining Sudan reported yesterday that the paramilitary takeover of El-Fasher exhibited characteristics of genocide. The investigation found that the Rapid Support Forces’ occupation of the city in Darfur in October resulted in a period of extreme terror lasting three days. The mission’s head, Mohamad Chande Othman, emphasized that the magnitude, organization, and official support of the operation by high-ranking RSF officials indicate that the atrocities in and around El-Fasher were not isolated incidents of war and called for accountability for those involved.
