President Donald Trump’s decision to halt the supply of Venezuelan oil to Cuba following the political events in Venezuela has further strained the situation. Putin emphasized Russia’s historical alliance with Cuba, expressing solidarity with the island nation’s pursuit of independence and sovereignty. The meeting between Putin and Rodriguez took place at the Kremlin in Moscow.
