“Police Chief’s Residence Robbed of Copper Wire in Bagerhat”

-

Burglars struck the residence of Md Ali Hossain Fakir, the Inspector General of Police, in Bagerhat late on Monday night. The thieves stole power cables from the three-story house located in the Amlapara area of the town. The theft was discovered the following morning.

Law enforcement officials are currently working on identifying the individuals responsible for the burglary and retrieving the stolen items. One local scrap dealer has been taken into custody for interrogation as there are suspicions that the stolen copper wires might have been sold at a nearby establishment.

According to family members, heavy rainfall caused a power outage on Monday night, providing an opportunity for the thieves to trespass onto the property. Despite the presence of CCTV cameras encircling the premises, the culprits managed to avoid detection and snip approximately two coils of copper wire connecting the main line to the meter.

The stolen wiring is estimated to be worth around Tk 60,000. Md Hasan Chowdhury, the superintendent of police in Bagerhat, mentioned that several investigative teams are looking into the incident.
