Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has addressed concerns surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) displacing jobs by emphasizing that the technology is creating employment opportunities rather than causing job losses. Speaking at a Milken Institute event, Huang highlighted AI’s potential for economic growth, particularly in the United States. During a discussion with journalist Becky Quick, he portrayed AI as a catalyst for job creation on an industrial scale, promoting re-industrialization instead of posing a threat to employment.
Huang stated, “At present, AI is actively producing a vast number of job opportunities.” This statement comes at a time when there is an ongoing public discourse regarding the rapid integration of AI and its potential effects on the job market, especially for younger individuals entering a workforce that is progressively automated.
Contrary to the belief that automation will entirely replace roles, Huang argued that AI typically assumes specific tasks within a job rather than completely eradicating the overall function of that position. He suggested that concerns stem from a misconception about the structure of work, with individual tasks being just a fraction of a broader range of responsibilities.
