Hamas Calls for End to Israeli Aggression for Gaza’s Future
In response to the first meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, Hamas emphasized the necessity of ceasing all Israeli aggression as a foundational step in discussions about Gaza’s future. The Palestinian movement stressed the importance of stopping aggression, lifting the blockade, and ensuring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to freedom and self-determination.
During the inaugural session of Trump’s board in Washington, multiple countries committed resources and personnel to aid in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which is now over four months into a delicate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear that Hamas must disarm before any reconstruction efforts can commence.
Netanyahu, who did not personally attend the meeting in Washington but was represented by Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, stated, “We agreed with our ally the US that there will be no reconstruction of Gaza before the demilitarisation of Gaza.” Trump disclosed that several countries, primarily from the Gulf region, have pledged over seven billion dollars towards the rebuilding process. Additionally, Indonesia is set to assume a deputy commander role within the emerging International Stabilisation Force.
