The government has announced the pricing for rawhide during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, setting the rate for salted cowhide in Dhaka at Tk 62 to Tk 67 per square foot, a Tk 2 increase from last year. Outside Dhaka, the price range for cowhide has been fixed at Tk 57 to Tk 62 per square foot, compared to last year’s Tk 55 to Tk 60, as per the Commerce Ministry.
Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir disclosed the revised rates during a press conference at the secretariat office in Dhaka after a committee meeting focused on Qurbani-related management. The pricing for salted goat skin ranges from Tk 25 to Tk 30 per square foot, while she-goat skin is priced between Tk 22 to Tk 25 per square foot.
Additionally, the government will supply free salt worth Tk 17.60 crore to aid in preserving hides. Various entities such as traders, mosques, and madrasas will engage in leather preservation activities nationwide. Measures are being taken to prevent any wastage of hides during the Eid festival, with district and upazila administrations slated to provide training to mosque and madrasa representatives for effective hide preservation.
