Three individuals tragically lost their lives in separate traffic accidents within the past 48 hours, as per reports gathered by our team. In Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, Rahima Begum, aged 60, was fatally struck by a speeding truck on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway yesterday morning. The incident took place at Tetultala in Jagannathpur union around 8:30 am while she was walking along the roadside.
According to Nirmal Chandra Mahanto, the officer-in-charge of Boda Highway Police Station, the truck, en route to Panchagarh, hit and killed her instantly. The driver and helper abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Authorities have seized the truck and are currently working on identifying the individuals involved while preparing to file a case.
In a separate occurrence, Monoranjan, aged 80, from Matigara village, met with a fatal accident after being struck by a speeding motorcycle on the Kachubari-Shasla Peyala road in the district on Saturday evening. He later succumbed to his injuries at Thakurgaon General Hospital early the following day, with a legal case initiated in response.
In Puthia upazila of Rajshahi, a schoolteacher identified as Abdur Razzak, aged 50 and hailing from Dhopapara village, lost his life in a road accident yesterday morning. Razzak was standing near the Fire Service station at Puthia Bazar around 11:30 am when a dump truck carrying stones lost control and collided with him.
Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque from Paba Highway Police Station mentioned that the truck dragged Razzak along the road, leading to his immediate death. While the vehicle could not be immediately apprehended, efforts are underway to ascertain and apprehend the responsible parties. Following necessary legal procedures, the body was released to the family for funeral arrangements.
