“DMTCL Implements Ban on Content Creation in Metro Rail Stations”

-

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has recently implemented a ban on creating any type of content within metro rail station premises without obtaining prior authorization. The state-owned metro rail operator issued a notice on February 17, indicating that capturing photos or videos at metro rail facilities without official consent will be considered a punishable offense.

The announcement, signed by DMTCL’s Director (Administration) AKM Khairul Alam, explicitly states that all unauthorized filming and photography within metro rail premises are strictly prohibited. As per the directive, video recording or broadcasting activities are now prohibited throughout metro rail stations, encompassing platforms, concourse halls, entry and exit points, as well as inside moving trains.

The prohibition specifically pertains to content generated for social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook, which includes short-form videos, live streaming, and photography done for either commercial or personal reasons. The primary objective behind this decision, as per the authorities, is to maintain smooth passenger flow and enhance security within this critical state infrastructure.

DMTCL has cautioned that individuals caught engaging in such activities without obtaining prior approval will be subject to administrative and legal repercussions in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
