Bangladeshi film icon Shakib Khan is currently in Kolkata shooting his upcoming movie, “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka”, set for release during Eid. The film crew, having wrapped up filming in Sri Lanka, has been capturing scenes in various locations such as Alipur Jail, Howrah, and Boubazar, attracting the interest of locals.
During the shoot, Khan was spotted cruising on a motorcycle through Boubazar, sporting a unique red-toned hairstyle, a neatly trimmed beard, and a floral shirt paired with an open denim jacket. Pedestrians stopped in their tracks as cameras trailed the actor through the bustling city streets.
The star-studded cast features Tasnia Farin, Jyotirmoyee Kundu, Loknath Dey, Paean Sarkar, and Mrityunjoy Bhattacharya, showcasing a mix of talents from India and Bangladesh. Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, filming in Kolkata commenced in the second week of February, with plans to relocate to Hyderabad in the near future.
Crucial action scenes were filmed at an abandoned factory in Howrah starting February 9, with Khan portraying a character loosely based on the notorious 1990s Bangladeshi underworld figure “Kala Jahangir”, depicting his evolution from a law-abiding citizen to a feared gangster.
On February 11, the crew were at Madhob Bhavan in central Boubazar, where a bike stunt against the backdrop of the weathered pale yellow building captivated a small audience. Loknath Dey, who shared the screen with Khan in “Toofan”, plays the role of the protagonist’s trusted confidant.
The cinematography is under the expertise of Bollywood professionals Amit Roy and Shaaillesh Awasthi, known for their work on acclaimed projects like “Animal” and prominent Kolkata productions by Shrikant Mohta and Ashok Dhankar. Produced by Shirin Sultana of Creative Land Films, the movie guarantees a blend of action, romance, and urban conflict.
“Prince” marks one of the largest Bangladeshi film ventures extensively shot in Kolkata, blending talents from both sides of the border with urban settings to deliver a grand cinematic experience for Eid viewers.
