“Bangladesh Trials Satellite Wi-Fi on Trains with Starlink”

-

Bangladesh has initiated the testing of satellite-powered internet services on moving trains for the first time using Starlink, the satellite internet service provided by SpaceX, led by Elon Musk. This new endeavor is a joint effort between Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) and Bangladesh Railway. The current trial is underway on various intercity trains, enabling passengers to utilize onboard Wi-Fi enabled by satellite technology.

As per a recent announcement from BSCL, the trial phase commenced on March 13 and is initially being implemented on three trains: Parjatak Express, Upaban Express, and Bonolota Express. Travelers on these trains can easily connect to the Wi-Fi network by scanning a QR code available inside the train carriage.

If the initial testing phase yields positive results, there are plans to progressively introduce satellite-based internet services on other high-demand intercity train routes.
