Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed strong disapproval and objection towards statements made by LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir regarding the political exclusion of Jamaat. In a released statement, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar characterized the remarks made by the BNP leader as a direct “threat” and criticized them as “undemocratic and unwelcome.” Porwar emphasized that such language is not in line with democratic principles and likened Fakhrul’s rhetoric to that of the ousted ruling party, deeming it inappropriate and regrettable. He asserted that resorting to inflammatory statements instead of engaging in constructive dialogue signifies a lack of political integrity and moral grounding.
Porwar urged the BNP secretary general to refrain from using divisive and undemocratic language, emphasizing the importance of upholding lawful and democratic discourse to safeguard the integrity of the democratic process. Earlier in the day, Fakhrul, in a press briefing held at the party’s Nayapaltan office, strongly criticized comments made by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, refuting the assertion that the party had ascended to power through manipulation. Fakhrul highlighted that such statements highlight the irrationality of the Jamaat leadership and their detachment from public opinion, stating that a conscious rejection by the nation necessitates strategic efforts to politically marginalize them in the future.
