Internet users in Bangladesh may face disruptions and reduced speeds from April 9 to April 13 due to maintenance work on a key international submarine cable. Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) issued an official notice regarding the temporary impact on internet services during this period.
The maintenance activity involves repairing the country’s second submarine cable system, the SEA-ME-WE-5, which is linked via Kuakata. The repair operation, known as “S.1.5.1 Shunt Fault Repair,” is being managed by the SEA-ME-WE-5 consortium and is scheduled to take place from 10:00 PM on April 9 until 06:00 AM on April 13, as outlined by BSCPLC.
Users might experience slower speeds or partial service interruptions during this period, particularly for circuits directing internet traffic towards Singapore through the SEA-ME-WE-5 cable. Despite this, services utilizing the SEA-ME-WE-4 submarine cable system will continue to operate without disruption.
