Actor Zaher Alvi has been identified as the primary suspect in a case linked to the tragic death of his wife, Afra Ivnath Khan Ikra, who authorities believe died by suicide at their residence in Mirpur DOHS in the city. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday afternoon at the couple’s apartment in Mirpur DOHS while Alvi was in Nepal for a filming project.
Ikra’s father lodged a complaint alleging that the actor played a role in her suicide, leading investigators to name him as the primary accused. A police inquiry has been initiated, with further actions contingent on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
In a statement on social media, Alvi confirmed the death of his wife, indicating that she took her own life at their Mirpur DOHS home while he was away in Nepal for work. Expressing shock and disbelief, he mentioned his inability to comprehend why she took such a drastic step without considering their child or family.
Asking for understanding and space during the difficult time, Alvi requested journalists and sympathizers to refrain from spreading misinformation and to respect his family’s privacy. He also sought prayers for his late wife, revealing that they were married on November 9, 2010, with a child named Priyomaya.
Law enforcement officials refrained from divulging additional information, emphasizing that the course of legal action would be determined by the outcomes of the ongoing investigation.
