Baidu’s Robotaxi Service Hit by Major Disruption

-

Robotaxis under Baidu’s Apollo Go service faced a major disruption in Wuhan, China, resulting in passengers being left stranded for up to two hours. Authorities reported the incident as a “system failure” impacting over 100 self-driving vehicles. The technical glitch led to abrupt halts, with some vehicles stopping on busy roads and fast lanes, prompting safety worries. Police are currently probing the root cause of the malfunction. Baidu, a prominent player in China’s robotaxi sector, has also ventured into the global market, with intentions to introduce a fleet exceeding 1,000 autonomous vehicles in Dubai in the near future.
