An alliance consisting of 11 parties, with Jamaat-e-Islami at the helm, has declared a series of events scheduled from tomorrow until May 2 to push for the enforcement of the July charter. The agenda includes a large-scale procession in Dhaka set for tomorrow, followed by similar gatherings in divisional cities on April 25 and in district towns on May 2. Distribution of leaflets and hosting of seminars in divisional cities and key district towns are also part of the plan during this timeframe.
The announcement of these programs was made by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar following a meeting of top leaders of the opposition alliance at a press conference held at Al-Falah Auditorium, located near Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar, the capital. The meeting, chaired by Opposition Leader and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, was attended by notable alliance figures including Opposition Chief Whip and NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Liberal Democratic Party President Col (retd) Oli Ahmad, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis chief Mamunul Haque, and AB Party General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad.
Porwar disclosed that the alliance intends to organize rallies in all city corporations and divisional headquarters, with the dates to be finalized by the liaison committee. Following these events, a mass rally is planned in Dhaka, which will serve as the platform for announcing the subsequent phase of activities. Alleging that the government is disregarding the public mandate, the Jamaat leader reiterated the demand for the legal recognition of the July charter, emphasizing that the alliance is committed to sustaining its initiatives until the charter is implemented.
