Manchester United club officials are reportedly set to propose Michael Carrick as the permanent manager following a significant upturn in the team’s performance. The 44-year-old assumed the managerial role in January after Ruben Amorim’s turbulent tenure came to an end.
Under Carrick’s leadership, Manchester United secured a Champions League spot with three games remaining, ending a two-season absence from the prestigious competition. Since his appointment on January 13, Carrick has overseen 10 victories in 15 matches across all competitions, experiencing only two defeats. This successful run has propelled United from seventh to third place in the Premier League standings.
According to reports from The Athletic, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox are poised to recommend Carrick as the permanent manager to co-owner Jim Ratcliffe in an upcoming executive meeting. While the club has explored other options, Carrick has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, receiving public support from several players and prompting some bookmakers to halt bets on his appointment.
Carrick is scheduled to address the media on Friday before Manchester United’s final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
