“Mobile Court Raid Seizes 33,900 Liters of Hoarded Fuel”

-

A raid conducted by a mobile court at Abdul Ali Filling Station in Gazipur’s Konabari resulted in the confiscation of 33,900 liters of unlawfully hoarded fuel on Monday night. Following the operation at around 10:00 pm, the station’s proprietor and manager were sentenced to one month in jail, although their identities were not revealed, as confirmed by Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan. The raid, supported by BGB and police officials, was prompted by intelligence indicating stockpiling despite the station’s display of a “No fuel supply available” notice. Upon verification, the mobile court ordered immediate incarceration of the offenders. The confiscated fuel is slated for sale, with the proceeds to be channeled into the government treasury.

Simultaneously, at approximately 9:00 pm on the same night, motorcyclists staged a blockade on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near Maona Flyover in Sreepur, citing shortages at Sterling Filling Station. Subsequent police investigations confirmed the station’s lack of petrol or octane in inventory. The roadblock was lifted at 9:35 pm, restoring normal traffic flow.
