“BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Celebrates Ekushey Liberation”

-

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed that the significance of “Ekush” had been oppressed during a dictatorial regime in the past, but now it is celebrated freely, providing an opportunity to establish a fair and unbiased democratic system in Bangladesh. Fakhrul mentioned that the current scenario, with a newly elected BNP government led by Tarique Rahman, marks a distinct moment following years of restrictions under autocratic rule. Speaking at the Central Shaheed Minar to honor the language martyrs on Amar Ekushey, also known as International Mother Language Day and Shaheed Dibosh, Fakhrul, who also serves as the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, emphasized the heightened hopes of the public towards the newly restored democracy. He expressed optimism in meeting the people’s expectations by fostering a truly democratic society rooted in justice under the leadership of a democratic government. Fakhrul reiterated that the essence of Ekushey lies in creating a society and state free from discrimination in Bangladesh. Looking ahead, he affirmed the commitment to advancing in alignment with this ethos, striving to enhance the well-being of the populace, promote the local language and culture, and fortify the independence, sovereignty, and democracy of Bangladesh.
