Google has finalized its acquisition of Wiz, a cloud and AI security platform, for $32 billion to enhance its cloud security capabilities. Wiz will now be integrated into Google Cloud while retaining its brand and customer support for various cloud environments. The platform offered by Wiz is tailored to monitor cloud environments and software code to identify vulnerabilities and address potential threats efficiently.
By combining Wiz’s technology with Google’s cloud infrastructure and AI prowess, the collaboration aims to create a comprehensive security platform to empower organizations in swiftly identifying, preventing, and responding to cyber threats. This unified platform will also aid in detecting new risks posed by AI models, safeguarding AI systems from attacks, and leveraging AI to assist security professionals in spotting potential breaches.
Wiz’s products will continue to be accessible across major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, and Google’s own services. Noteworthy multinational firms like Shell, BMW, LVMH, Morgan Stanley, and Salesforce are among the users of Wiz’s platform, with approximately half of Fortune 100 companies employing its technology.
Google initially proposed to acquire Wiz for $23 billion in 2024, but the offer was rejected by the cybersecurity startup. However, discussions for the acquisition resumed in early 2025, leading to the announcement in March of the $32 billion deal. The transaction was finalized after obtaining regulatory clearance from authorities in the United States and the European Union, with approval from U.S. regulators in November 2025 and European Union regulators in February 2026 post antitrust reviews.
