Bangladeshi Actress Tahmina Sultana Mou Prioritizes Quality over Quantity in Roles

-

Actress Tahmina Sultana Mou, a veteran in Bangladeshi television and film industry since 1999, is prioritizing roles that are rich in depth and significance over quantity in serials. With a vast portfolio comprising numerous one-hour plays, telefilms, and serials, she has also delved into stage performances and commercials. Currently, she is immersed in shooting multiple Eid dramas, having wrapped up two projects and gearing up for a third.

In “Happy Divorce,” an Eid drama directed by Topu Khan, Mou takes on the role of one of two sisters alongside Keya Payel. She lauds the director’s meticulous planning and the talented ensemble cast in this family drama narrative. Another completed venture, “Mon Priya,” helmed by Mahidul Mahim, features Mou in a prominent role alongside Jovan and singer Porshi. Mou expressed confidence in the drama’s captivating storyline resonating well with Eid audiences. A third project under the direction of Muhammad Mostofa Kamal Raj is on the horizon.

Despite her extensive involvement in serial dramas, Mou has recently scaled back on long-term commitments. She attributes this decision to the intense shooting schedules, at times condensing two days of work into a single day, causing stress and hindering character evolution. Mou emphasized the importance of well-developed roles and stated her willingness to return to serials under such circumstances. She commended the surge of family dramas on Bangladeshi television, enabling larger casts to collaborate and offering viewers a diverse range of performances.

Reflecting on her career milestones, Mou identified “Gulshan Avenue” and “Sonar Pakhi Rupar Pakhi” as pivotal moments. Her portrayal of Setara Begum in the latter remains iconic, while “Gulshan Avenue” stands out as a significant project in her repertoire. Looking ahead, Mou expressed her readiness to tackle diverse characters such as police officers, lawyers, or any challenging roles that provide substantial depth and meaning.
