Xiaomi has introduced a groundbreaking electric hypercar prototype at the Mobile World Congress 2026. Named the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, this car was specifically designed for the Gran Turismo gaming series.
This marks the first instance of a tech company being included in the Vision Gran Turismo project, a venture where designers craft virtual concept cars unconstrained by real-world production limitations. Kazunori Yamauchi, the producer of Gran Turismo, extended the invitation during the GT World Series in London last year.
The design philosophy of the concept, known as ‘Sculpted by the Wind’, emphasizes a balance between low drag and high downforce. Through extensive simulated testing, Xiaomi claims to have achieved impressive metrics including a drag coefficient of 0.29, negative 1.2 downforce, and an aerodynamic efficiency rating of 4.1.
Unique features of the hypercar include an Active Wake Control System that utilizes micro-perforations around the taillight to actively manage airflow, and Accretion Rims with stationary wheel covers that reduce drag while in motion. The cockpit features a teardrop silhouette with airfoil-shaped structural elements.
The interior, named ‘Sofa Racer’, deviates from traditional bucket seats to offer a cocoon-like cockpit with 3D-knit natural fabric seating. It incorporates Xiaomi Pulse, an intelligent dashboard assistant, and Xiaomi HyperVision, an adaptive interface linked to the ‘Human x Car x Home’ smart ecosystem.
Xiaomi has also designed a driving simulator that doubles as furniture, seamlessly blending into home living spaces to allow users to practice driving from the comfort of their homes.
It is important to note that the hypercar exists solely as a virtual concept for the Gran Turismo franchise and has no plans for production.
