Pakistan’s head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed confidence in the team’s upcoming performance with the return of star batsman Babar Azam for the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet. Babar missed the first Test due to a knee injury, which Bangladesh won by 104 runs to take a 1-0 lead.
“We are pleased to have Babar Azam back for the next match,” Sarfaraz informed reporters ahead of the second Test scheduled for Saturday. Despite the disappointment of the previous Test, Sarfaraz emphasized the team’s determination to rebound and perform well collectively.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is facing injury setbacks in their top-order batsmen. Shadman Islam is sidelined with a chest injury from the first Test, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s fitness is under observation. Tanzid Hasan Tamim is primed to debut in Test cricket, stepping in for Shadman.
Although rain is forecasted for the decisive match, Sarfaraz downplayed its potential impact, stating the team’s readiness to deliver quality cricket if given the opportunity to play. On the other hand, veteran Bangladesh player Mushfiqur Rahim highlighted the weather as a significant factor that could influence the game, suggesting the pitch might have some moisture.
Mushfiqur remained unfazed by the return of Babar Azam, acknowledging his talent but recalling Bangladesh’s previous victory over Pakistan where Babar was also part of the team.
