Kushum Shikder, a renowned actor and singer, has recently unveiled a new song, marking her return to the music scene after almost a decade. Simultaneously, she is gearing up for the launch of an upcoming web series.
The latest track, titled “Hera Hote Hele Dule,” is a naat-e-Rasul penned and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Kushum mentioned that this release follows her last song, “Nesha,” which debuted back in 2017.
The music video for “Hera Hote Hele Dule” was crafted using artificial intelligence technology and was produced under the banner of Impress Telefilm, based on the vision of Faridur Reza Sagar and Shaikh Siraj. The video premiered on Channel i last Sunday before being made available on the channel’s digital platforms.
Having received training in Nazrul Sangeet and classical music at the Nazrul Academy, Kushum expressed the significance of performing a song by Kazi Nazrul Islam. She emphasized her roots in Nazrul Sangeet and applauded the use of AI technology in the music video as a nod to the rapid advancements in global technology.
In addition to her musical comeback, Kushum recently completed filming for the web series “Paap Kahini 2,” helmed by director Shahriar Nazim Joy. This project marks her debut in web-based productions, with the storyline revolving around themes of love, infidelity, deception, and revenge. Joy, who also directed the series’ first installment, “Pap Kahini,” released last year.
Reflecting on her initial foray into an OTT project, Kushum remarked that the medium did not significantly alter her acting approach. She emphasized her focus on delivering a compelling performance for the character and highlighted the positive experience of collaborating with Joy and familiar co-actors.
The much-anticipated “Paap Kahini 2” is slated for an Eid-ul-Fitr premiere on the iScreen OTT platform if all goes according to plan. Kushum divulged that she would soon commence dubbing for the series but refrained from disclosing further plot details.
Known for her selective approach to projects, the actress shared her preference for diverse roles to avoid monotony. She emphasized her inclination towards distinct character portrayals, leading to a relatively limited number of projects. She expressed optimism that audiences would embrace the new series wholeheartedly.
