Ramadan 2026 to Begin on Wednesday, February 18

-

Saudi Arabia and the UAE have confirmed that Ramadan 2026 will commence on Wednesday, February 18, after the official sighting of the crescent moon. On the other hand, various nations in Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa have designated Thursday as the inaugural day of the sacred month, as stated by Gulf News. According to the Islamic lunar calendar, months start with the physical observation of the moon. If the new moon is seen after sunset on the 29th day of Shaban, Ramadan will begin the next day; otherwise, Shaban will last for 30 days, and Ramadan will start thereafter. Numerous Middle Eastern countries, such as Saudi Arabia, have established moon-sighting committees. Reports from witnesses are documented formally, and the commencement of Ramadan is announced by the country’s Supreme Court or central authority based on these testimonies.
