Rain Disrupts Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Matches

-

All six games in the third round of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025-26 were heavily impacted by rain on Sunday. Four matches were settled using the DLS method, while the remaining two were rescheduled for reserve days.

In the completed fixtures, Bashundhara Strikers triumphed over Gazi Group Cricketers by a margin of 10 runs, Prime Bank Cricket Club defeated Legends of Rupganj by 20 runs, Gulshan Cricket Club outplayed Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 60 runs, and City Club narrowly beat Dhaka Leopards by a single run – all outcomes were determined through the DLS method.

Meanwhile, the clashes between Mohammedan Sporting Club versus Rupganj Tigers and Abahani against Brothers Union were postponed to reserve days as the minimum required 20 overs in the second innings were not completed. Both matches are set to resume from where they left off on Monday.

At the Cricketers Academy, Bashundhara Strikers, batting first, scored 235 runs, with Nurul Hasan Sohan (73) and Imranuzzaman (59) contributing half-centuries. Gazi Group Cricketers, chasing a revised target of 194 in 34 overs, were on track for victory at 173 for six in the 30th over. However, a late collapse saw them bundled out for 183, with Aminul Islam Biplob’s 4-39 spell guiding Bashundhara to their second win in three matches.

At BKSP-3, Legends of Rupganj posted 227 runs, driven by Habibur Rahman Sohan’s 61 off 56 balls. Prime Bank reached 108 for two in 25.4 overs before rain interrupted play. As both teams had completed their minimum overs, Prime Bank was declared the winner under the DLS method. Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s unbeaten 61 off 71 balls led Prime Bank to their third consecutive win, placing them at the top of the points table.

Gulshan Cricket Club, at the Bashundhara Sports Complex, set a target of 301 for five in 50 overs, with Shahadot Hossain Sobuj’s 132 off 121 balls and Sharear Sakib’s 75 off 94 balls powering their innings. Agrani Bank’s chase was thwarted by weather disruptions, leading to a revised target of 193 in 26 overs. Agrani Bank collapsed to 132 all out, with Mahfijul Islam Robin top-scoring at 53. Gulshan’s bowlers, Abdur Rahim, Naim Hossain Sakib, and Farhad Reza, each claimed three wickets, securing their team’s first win.

At BKSP-4, Dhaka Leopards posted 306 for nine in 50 overs, with Zakir Hasan’s 137 off 134 balls and Moin Khan’s 66 runs. City Club, at 96 for one in 20.1 overs when rain set in, were awarded the win as they were ahead of the DLS par score by one run, marking their second victory in three matches.

At the ULAB Cricket Ground, Mohammad Naim’s explosive 145 off 136 balls, including five fours and 12 sixes, alongside Yasir Ali’s unbeaten 69 off 44 balls, propelled Mohammedan Sporting Club to 345 for six in 50 overs. Pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury then reduced Rupganj Tigers to 53 for five in 16.5 overs before rain halted play, leading to a rescheduled match.

Similarly, the match between Abahani and Brothers Union was stopped due to rain, with Brothers at 49 for one in 12 overs. Earlier, Abahani had scored 283 for six in 50 overs, with notable contributions from Mahidul Islam Ankon (83 off 113 balls), S M Meherob Hassan (77 off 76 balls), and Mosaddek Hossain, who was unbeaten on 62 off 40 balls.
