The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, announced yesterday the government’s plan to bring doctors directly to patients’ homes, eliminating the need for people to seek out medical assistance actively. Speaking at a reception in his hometown of Hafizpur village in Narsingdi’s Monohardi upazila, he emphasized the ministry’s commitment to becoming free of corruption and syndicate influence.
Minister Hossain highlighted the government’s objective of enhancing healthcare accessibility by ensuring medical services are conveniently available to all citizens. He stressed the government’s impartiality in serving all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
Addressing the demand for a medical college in Narsingdi, the minister assured that efforts would be made to establish one promptly, with similar initiatives planned for other locations nationwide. Furthermore, he pledged to expedite the full operation of the 250-bed Narsingdi District Hospital and introduce two intensive care units (ICUs) in the district.
The event was attended by various officials including Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md Kalimullah, Superintendent Dr ANM Mizanur Rahman of Narsingdi District Hospital, as well as leaders and members of BNP and its affiliated groups.
