“Dry Outfield Poses Challenge for Bangladesh vs. New Zealand ODI”

-

The outfield at Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium was notably dry ahead of the crucial third ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Visible patches of uneven grass and barren areas resembling worn pitches were evident throughout the field.

Ground staff mentioned that there had been a lack of water supply for the past few days, a common occurrence during this period. New Zealand bowler Will O’Rourke observed that the dry conditions could lead to a swift outfield during the press conference on Wednesday.

Expressing his thoughts on the pitch, O’Rourke anticipated pace and bounce, noting the presence of grass on the wicket. Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach Shaun Tait echoed a similar sentiment, cautiously optimistic about the pitch conditions but refraining from making definitive judgments.

Tait found reassurance in the square’s condition, highlighting the curator’s confidence due to reduced traffic on the area. When asked about potential risks for fielders, Tait dismissed any concerns, stating that the surface appeared suitable and safe for play.
