ByteDance Delays Seedance 2.0 Launch Amid IP Concerns

-

ByteDance has postponed the global launch of Seedance 2.0, its latest artificial intelligence (AI) video model, due to concerns raised by companies regarding potential intellectual property (IP) infringements. The Information’s recent report revealed that the company had originally intended to introduce the model to international markets in mid-March but has halted the rollout to mitigate legal risks through collaboration between its legal and engineering teams.

Seedance 2.0 was initially released by ByteDance in China in February and quickly gained popularity with short video clips created by the model circulating widely online. One notable example featured a fictional fight scene between actors Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, which garnered significant social media attention but also faced criticism from the entertainment industry.
