Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Member of Parliament Sayed Uddin Ahmad Hanzala has appealed to the parliament to implement a law that would impose the death penalty for any actions deemed as insulting or showing disrespect towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Speaking in the Jatiya Sangsad, he also advocated for a legislation that would classify individuals who do not acknowledge Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the final prophet as “non-Muslims.”
During a discussion on the president’s speech in the parliament, the MP for Madaripur-1 put forth these requests. Hanzala emphasized the importance of representing the voices of the approximately 30-40 lakh ulemas in the country within the national parliament.
Expressing his strong belief, Hanzala stated, “My faith includes firm belief in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as my final prophet, as stated in the Quran.” He highlighted a concerning issue in Bangladesh where some individuals reject Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while identifying themselves as Muslims, leading to conflicts and even fatalities on the streets. Despite ongoing struggles since the country’s independence, Hanzala stressed the need for official acknowledgment.
In a direct plea to the prime minister, Hanzala urged for a groundbreaking initiative in Bangladesh. He emphasized that with the prime minister’s support, those who do not recognize Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would lose their Muslim identity permanently.
