Veteran actor Sohel Rana has urged Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to impose stricter oversight on certain ministers due to concerns that their public statements could have adverse effects on both the government and the ruling party. In a recent post on his verified Facebook account on Friday evening, Sohel Rana highlighted the warm reception given by the people of Bangladesh to the prime minister over the past three days. However, he advised the premier to counsel some ministers against unnecessary media appearances.
Rana emphasized that there is no necessity for these ministers to engage with the press unless there are specific updates to share. He proposed that official departmental communications should be handled by designated spokespersons instead of individual ministers making unsolicited public appearances.
The seasoned actor stressed that ministers should interact with the media only when essential and after consulting with the prime minister. He expressed apprehension that certain individuals, who swiftly ascended from party workers to parliament members and subsequently became ministers, might have forgotten that they now represent more than just a political party.
According to Rana, the inconsistent or impulsive remarks made by some ministers could have far-reaching consequences for both the party and the prime minister. He cautioned that without enhanced supervision, the initial progress achieved could be compromised. Concluding his message, Sohel Rana conveyed his gratitude and best wishes to the prime minister.
