The creators of the film “Alpha,” starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, have officially revealed a new release date for the upcoming espionage thriller, ending months of speculation surrounding the movie’s theatrical plans.
Earlier reports had hinted at a possible delay in the film’s release to avoid a direct clash with “Battle of Galwan,” featuring Salman Khan in the lead role. There were also rumors circulating that the movie might skip theaters and opt for a direct premiere on a streaming platform. However, the latest update confirms that “Alpha” will indeed hit the big screens.
The producers recently unveiled a fresh poster and confirmed that the movie is now scheduled to hit theaters on July 10, 2026. Bhatt took to Instagram to share the news, stating, “#ALPHA 10.07.2026 See you in cinemas.”
The film’s release date has undergone multiple changes. Initially set for a Christmas 2025 release, it was later pushed to April 17, 2026. However, this date coincided with the release of “Battle of Galwan,” leading the makers to reschedule the film to avoid a significant box-office clash.
Helmed by Shiv Rawail, “Alpha” is a part of the YRF Spy Universe, which includes hit titles like “War,” “Pathaan,” and the “Tiger” series. Positioned as the sixth installment in the franchise, the movie was first hinted at through a brief post-credits scene in “War 2” earlier this year.
During the Red Sea Film Festival last year, Bhatt discussed the project and the challenge of leading a major action film in a franchise predominantly driven by male actors. She stated, “Alpha is the first female-led action film in the YRF universe, which inherently carries a certain risk as audiences have primarily been exposed to male-led narratives in this genre.”
Apart from Bhatt and Wagh, “Alpha” also stars Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.
With the latest date confirmation, “Alpha” is now set for a theatrical release on July 10, 2026, and is anticipated to be one of Bollywood’s key releases of the year.
