A delivery driver sustained injuries after a package exploded during opening in Kushtia. The event occurred at approximately 10:00 pm last night in the Lahini Bottola area of Sadar upazila. Law enforcement gathered evidence at the site. The injured individual, Nasir Sheikh, 50, from Lahini Karmakarpara, is currently receiving medical care at Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital. Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Hosen Imam stated, “One injured individual has been admitted to the hospital. He sustained shrapnel-like wounds to his lower body but is in stable condition.” Nasir mentioned that he was given Tk 30 by two unidentified individuals to deliver the parcel to a local resident named Hamidul in Lahini Joardar Para, who declined to accept it. Subsequently, Nasir brought the parcel back to Lahini Bottola, where it was opened in front of locals, revealing a wooden box that triggered the explosion upon opening. “I am unfamiliar with the two individuals who handed me the parcel. They identified themselves as drivers,” Nasir commented. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Faisal Mahmud confirmed the explosion that caused one injury, stating, “However, the perpetrators behind the incident are still unidentified.”
