A man was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen in Raozan, Chattogram, last night, just a day after a BNP supporter met the same fate. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 pm in the Kadalpur area, Ward No 6 of the upazila, claiming the life of Nasir Uddin, also known as Madhu Nasir, a resident of Kadalpur.
This incident followed another shooting on Saturday night, where Kawsaruzzaman, a 36-year-old BNP activist, was killed in the Jungle Raozan area under Ward No 9 of the municipality. Officer-in-Charge Sazedul Islam of Raozan Police Station revealed that Nasir was attacked by five to six armed assailants using a shotgun before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed Nasir, critically injured, to the upazila health complex, where he was later transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, Nasir succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police discovered three shotgun cartridges at the crime scene.
Officer Sazedul Islam disclosed that Nasir had six cases against him, including a murder charge, and authorities are currently investigating the motive behind his killing. The consecutive incidents within two days have instilled fear and anxiety among the local population in the area.
